Individual Therapy —
I work with adults and adolescents (over 12) wishing to address such issues as anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, career or academic concerns, relationships—both intimate and social. Many individuals seek therapy for individual growth and our work might focus on increasing self-awareness, with the use of Mindfulness, examining relationship and behavior patterns, and often mining one’s childhood for themes, events, and feelings that have created the person you are today. I also work with trauma which may stem from a range of causes and have studied the work of Bessel van der Kolk whose seminal work on trauma has guided the practice of many clinicians.
Couples Counseling —
Couples may find themselves at a crossroads in their relationship, wondering if there might be ways to improve their interactions, increase fondness and admiration for each other, and to listen more fully to their partners. While many people think that couples counseling is only for people who fear they may be facing separation or divorce, it is also very helpful for any couple looking to increase emotional or physical intimacy and remove boundaries to a more fulfilling relationship. I have training in Imago Therapy and have studied the Gottman method.
Group Therapy —
Parenting Support Group:
On an ongoing basis, I offer a parenting support group, for parents of children of any age. If you struggle with how to balance your own emotional needs with the daily and emotional needs of your children, this group is for you. This group will help you give voice to the challenges you may face in navigating things such as bedtime fights, sibling rivalry, homework arguments and screentime, as well as allow you room to say how you really feel.
This is a judgement-free space: no need to present a perfect-parent face here; we will meet you where you are and help you to normalize your feelings about parenthood.
Details: Group meets twice/month and is open, which means that new members may be added at any time.
Mondays at 12pm online at Zoom (for now) and in-person when safe at: 71 Battle Rd, Princeton, NJ 08540
New Mothers Support Group
This group will address a wide range of issues, concerns, challenges that new mothers experience, including frustration over exhaustion, feeling the loss of one’s pre-parent self, working out sleep schedules, and post-partum depression. You may feel you only have a case of “the baby blues,” rather than a psychiatrist/therapist designated case of Post-Partum Depression, but you are still very welcome here.
This is a judgement free zone: new mothers’ struggles are very real and can feel so hard, especially if a mother feels conflict over her new role. You are not alone in this. The mutual support of this kind of group can be very empowering. Babies are welcome—please do not let the lack of a babysitter deter you.
Details: Group meets weekly and is open, meaning new members can join at any time.
Tuesdays at 12pm on Zoom (for now) and in-person when safe at: 71 Battle Rd, Princeton, NJ 08540 (If members desire, we can try to find an outdoors, yet still safe and confidential space for this meeting until indoors is deemed safe).
